104 Schools Helped by Imagination Playgrounds in 2016

On 11th of May, Imagination playgrounds announced to helping 104 schools from the beginning of 2016. Imagination playgrounds is a play concept developed to encourage child-directed, creative free play. In comparison with the recent article ‘How playing with “loose part” can be highly engaging‘ these concepts are very similar and effective. It has the ability to increase children’s focus, collaboration, math, science, language and comprehension skills. The concept was created by David Rockwell and the Rockwell Group. To further explain:

•   Focus – the blue blocks are very unique for the child’s eye. Their unique shape and endless possibilities will engage the child longer.

•   Collaboration – the blocks are of all different sizes so younger and older children are more likely to help each other.

•   Math and science – classification, size relationships, shapes, counting, height, width, area, fractions, and ordinal and cardinal numbers

•   Comprehension – introductory to symbolization and visual discrimination, two pre-reading skills

You can find Imagination Playgrounds in daycare centers, kindergartens, elementary schools, children’s museums etc.

Imagination Playground’s company’s goal in the beginning of 2016 was to help 3 million more children. Right now the company has reached helped to 892,438 more kids. I am confident they will reach their goal by the end of the year.
